Florida's home health market is huge and growing. The median hourly rate is $14.50, driven up by dense elderly populations in Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, and Sarasota.
Private-pay clients are more common in Florida than in most states. Aides working directly for families in wealthy retirement communities often earn $20 to $25 an hour with light housekeeping added in.
The tradeoff is competition. Florida has more certified aides per capita than almost any other state, so getting the higher-paying clients takes reputation and word-of-mouth referrals.
