Phlebotomists draw blood for tests, transfusions, and donations. The job is in every hospital, clinic, and lab, plus mobile services that visit patients at home.
Training programs run 4 to 8 months. Certification through the ASCP or NHA opens doors at bigger employers and adds $2 to $5 an hour on average.
New phlebotomists start around $37K. With certification, night differential, and travel roles, experienced techs reach $48K to $50K. Blood donation centers often pay above hospital rates.
