Lubbock's RN median sits near $74K per BLS OES, but that number understates the story. As the tertiary care hub for the South Plains and much of the Panhandle, Lubbock hospitals pull in acuity from a huge rural catchment area, and specialty RN roles here pay well above the base median.
University Medical Center Lubbock, Covenant Health, and the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center anchor the market. Texas Tech's HSC and its nursing school pipeline stabilize the entry-level supply, but critical care, OR, and L&D specialty roles routinely run at 12 to 15 percent vacancy per hospital association reporting.
